EFP Drives Growth with $31.5M Expansion in SC

EFP (Engineered Foam Packaging), a leading provider of high-volume molding, fabrication, and cold chain solutions, is pleased to announce plans to expand its operations in Lee County, South Carolina.

The $31.5 million investment will create 57 new job opportunities, reinforcing EFP, LLC.’s ongoing commitment to the region. As a trusted name in protective and consumer packaging, cold chain solutions, and packaging supply chain services since 1954, EFP continues its legacy of innovation and excellence. Specializing in the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of protective packaging and components, the company serves a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, food distribution, furniture, and more.

The expansion involves a 200,000 square-foot addition to EFP’s existing facility at 277 Browntown Road in Bishopville. This substantial growth will boost production capacity for advanced expanded polystyrene (EPS) and expanded polypropylene (EPP) solutions, enabling EFP to better serve its customers while maintaining its role as an industry leader. Operations are expected to be fully online in April 2026.

John Hoeper, President of EFP, expressed excitement about the expansion: “EFP is looking forward to the significant expansion at our Bishopville facility, where we will be adding 200,000 square feet to our existing operations. This growth is essential in supporting the increasing demand for our high-quality solutions used in protective packaging, automotive applications, and the cold chain industry.

With this enhanced capacity, we are well-positioned to continue driving innovation and delivering exceptional products to our customers. The project is set to go live in April 2026, and we are excited to welcome new talent to join our expanding team. We deeply appreciate the support from the state, Lee County, and TheLINK Alliance, which will help ensure the continued success of this initiative and help to benefit the community of Lee County.”

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits for the project, along with a $750,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant awarded to Lee County to support water and sewer infrastructure improvements and site preparation.
